The lovely summer holidays are now behind us, and we’re back home, eager to share some of our experiences. And what better way to start than with our exclusive visit to the legendary champagne house, Charles Heidsieck?!
Located in Reims, it’s one of only six prestigious houses that share Les Crayères, a unique complex of ancient chalk galleries situated south of Reims, dating back to the third century. During previous trips to the region, we’d already been captivated by the galleries at Pommery, Taittinger, and Veuve Clicquot. This was our fourth time stepping into “Les Crayères” and we loved the experience.

About the history of the house and, especially about the personal adventures of its founder, Charles Heidsieck, we already wrote while sharing the tasting of “Blanc des Millénaires” Millésime 1995, and it’s a very interesting post (click here to open it).

After the beautiful visit of the cellars, we were invited for a delicious tasting:
- Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs NV;
- Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve NV;
- Charles Heidsieck Rosé Réserve NV;
- Charles Heidsieck Brut Millésime 2013;
- Charles Heidsieck “Blanc des Millénaires” 2014;
- Charles Heidsieck Rosé Millésime 1983.

The tasting selection was perfectly chosen as we got to taste the newly released “Blanc des Millénaires” and the fantastic Rosé Millésime 1983 (which was mind blowing in terms of complexity and elegance, but quite low on bubbles).

At Champagne Charles Heidsieck we felt amazing, it was from start to end a fabulous experience, many thanks Melissa for your generosity, elegance and professionalism!

Thank you for your excellent information about your visit.
