First of all, happy new year to everyone! December has been a busy month for us and one reason was travelling to France, to both of the champagne capitals, Épernay and Reims. In the next posts we will tell you about the lovely experiences we’ve had! To start, we chose Habits de Lumière, a lights & champagne street festival in Épernay. It is celebrated each year (well, 2020 edition was cancelled for obvious reasons), mainly on Avenue de Champagne, the famous street where almost all the numbers are champagne houses. Building light projections, lasers, music, street performances, fireworks, food trucks and of course, champagne, have created the dream atmosphere of Habits de Lumière. Most champagne houses are hosting bars à champagne in their gardens and courtyards, sometimes accompanied by oysters, foie gras or other delicacies, in a cheerful atmosphere with DJs or live singers .

Habits de Lumière also included a gourmet demonstration (paired with champagne) made by the Michelin stared chefs from Champagne region, called Habits de Saveurs, and also a course of champagne and food pairing (hosted by the town hall).

The last day of Habits de Lumière was reserved to an amazing vintage car parade on the streets of Épernay. From our flat’s balcony on Avenue de Champagne we were able to enjoy it.

All in one, Habits de Lumière is a fantastic annual event made by the lovely people of Épernay and, despite de cold weather, we fully enjoyed it. During the next weeks we will tell you about our unforgettable stay in Champagne, our visits to champagne houses, our tastings and more. Stay tuned!
